CGCC Chicago Seminar “China-U.S. Policy and Development Environment in Manufacturing”

On September 22, 2017, CGCC Chicago held the Seminar – “China-US Policy and Development Environment in Manufacturing” in Chicago. Representatives of the Research Office of the China’s State Council and the CGCC Chicago Members discussed the China-US economic development environment and related policies around the topic “Support the Real Economy and Revitalize the Manufacturing Industry”. Mr. ZOU Xiaoming, the Commercial Attache of the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago chaired the seminar. Mr. OUYANG Jin, the Vice Director of Research of the State Council of China discussed the differences of business policies and the investment environment between China and the US. Mr. Xin He, Treasurer of CGCC Chicago welcome the delegation of the Research Office of the China’s State Council and introduced the CGCC Chicago. Mr. Jianning Li, Director of Tianjin TEDA US Representative Office introduced the work of TEDA US Office. Ms. Qiang Zhang, the President of CJS Trading hoped that the central government could map out the overall investment strategies in the agricultural industry and provide support to China’s own enterprises. Mr. Xin He, CFO of Wanda America Investment Holding introduced projects that Wanda has invested in the US, including acquisition of AMC movie theaters, which promotes the cultural communications between China and the US as well as the real estate investment projects which utilized materials and equipment imported from China. Wanda entered the US market in 2012 and has experiences coping with different local laws, taxation and insurance policies, and is willing to share the experience to other Chinese companies that come to the US. By analyzing specific data in pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Shang Lu, CFO of Hepalink Pharma USA discussed the manufacturing costs, comprehensive tax rates in recent years in the development of China and the US policy and environmental changes. Mr. Chenxiang Li, VP of Bank of China Chicago Branch shared the Bank’s experience in financing Chinese and American companies in the US. Ms. Yinong Wang, Investment and Financial Manager of Goldwind America introduced their acquisitions of wind power plants and other projects, and said that the future changes in US foreign investment policies may lead to their adjustments of business strategies. Mr. Yunpeng Liu, General Manager of Fawer USA shared their experience of localization and the cost of building management system as a Chinese company. Mr. Yongcheng Liu, General Manager of CRRC shared their experiences since their groundbreaking in March 2017. Mr. Wei Wang, General Manager of China Southern Airlines, Mr. Baiming Liu, President of Best View International, and Ms. Jiachen Fan of China Telecom were also part of the discussion.
