CGCC-Chicago members attend the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States

On March 8, 2019, the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago held a reception to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States.  Consul General Zhao Jian, Illinois Rep. Danny Davis, Secretary of State Jesse White, former Federal Senator Mark Kirk, State Senator Laura Ellman and Rep. Theresa Marseille, Marcus Evans, Anne Stava-Murray, Brooke E. Knobel, Director of the Northern District, and former Governor of Missouri, Bob Holden, Kansas Former state governor Jeff Colyer, Cook County Governor Toni Preckwinkle, Chicago City Merchants Director Andrea Zopp, Tourism Director David Whitaker, Chicago University President Robert J. Zimmer, Illinois University of Technology President Alan W. Cramb, DePaul University President A. Gabriel Esteban, and Missouri State University Vice President James Baker Ms. Sarah Lande, a famous friend of Iowa, a representative of Chinese companies in the Chicago-China Chamber of Commerce, local government, business, culture, education and foreigners in Chicago More than 200 people including the head of the Colombian delegation and overseas Chinese representatives attended the reception. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel sent a congratulatory letter to Consul General Zhao Jian.

Consul General Zhao Jian said in his speech that 2019 is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Over the past 40 years, the development of bilateral relations between China and the United States has brought enormous benefits to the two peoples and has also made important contributions to world peace, stability and prosperity. The history of the establishment of diplomatic relations 40 years ago has fully proved that cooperation is the best choice for both sides. China is willing to work with the US to summarize the development experience of bilateral relations and jointly promote Sino-US relations based on coordination, cooperation and stability, and better serve the people of the two countries and the people of the world.

Consul General Zhao said that as the 11th Consul General of China in Chicago, he is truly grateful for his mission and great responsibility. The city of Chicago and the Midwestern United States play an important role in Sino-US exchanges and cooperation. Seizing the opportunity of China and deepening cooperation with China has become the consensus of the states in the central and western regions. The Consulate General is willing to work together with local governments and people from all walks of life to promote the continuous development of friendly cooperation between China and the Midwestern United States
