Greater Chicago Food Depository Food Repack Family Session
June 15 @ 8:30 am - 11:15 pm
Partnered with Greater Chicago Food Depository, CGCC invites you to participate in the following activities to fight together against hunger in our community:
Food Repack Family Session
06/15/2019 08:30 AM to 11:15 AM
4100 W Ann Lurie Place Chicago, IL 60632
The Repack session is a great introduction to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, the work we do, and the need that we see in Cook County. A lot of the food GCFD receives at its warehouse comes in bulk quantities, and volunteers are scheduled to help break it down into more manageable sizes.
In a Repack session you may sort produce, inspect and box shipments of bread, or repack bulk dry goods (pasta, rice, beans) into smaller quantities. Together, we can properly and efficiently distribute quality food to participating food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in Cook County.
A special group tour will also be given to CGCC members after the volunteer session. Attendees will tour of the Food Depository’s 268,000 square foot warehouse to get a behind the scenes look of how the food bank works.
Please contact email@example.com to register. The minimum age to volunteer is 11 years old, and 11-15 years old must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (who must also register).
