Shanghai-Chicago Investment Forum successfully held in Shanghai

On July 15th, Ms. Andrea Zopp, Director and CEO of World Business Chicago, was commissioned by the Mayor of Chicago, Ms. Letterford, to visit Shanghai and host the “Shanghai-Chicago Investment” forum, together with Shanghai Foreign Investment Promotion Center, and the China Chamber of Commerce in Chicago, etc. Sun Xinhua, director of the Center, attended the forum and delivered a speech. Any deputy director, Wei Chen, also attended the meeting.
Before the meeting, Xu Kunlin, deputy mayor of Shanghai, welcomed with Ms. Andrea Zoeup and her party.

In the opening speech of the forum, Sun Xinhua introduced Shanghai as the main line of “Talking about the two cities and the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries”, and introduced the implementation of “three new major tasks” and accelerated the construction of “Five The situation of “central centers”, which shared Shanghai’s eye-catching data on foreign investment and foreign investment in recent years, demonstrating Shanghai’s “open, innovative and inclusive” urban character and its urban style as the preferred destination for foreign investment. Sun Xinhua also introduced the city characteristics and industrial investment environment of Chicago to the representatives of Shanghai enterprises present. He looked forward to the prospect of further deepening economic and trade cooperation between Shanghai and Chicago in the friendship city cooperation mechanism and the China International Import Expo and the “Belt and Road” framework.   The exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States share extensive common interests and broad cooperation space. He said that the Shanghai Foreign Investment Promotion Center, as the only city-level two-way investment promotion agency in the city, is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the Chicago Investment Promotion Bureau to provide professional support for Chicago enterprises to invest in Shanghai, and to “go out” for the city’s enterprises. “Going to Chicago to invest in providing quality service.”

Ms. Andrea Zoeup served as the deputy mayor of Chicago. Ms. Zoeup highlighted the excellent investment development environment in Chicago to representatives of the Shanghai government and entrepreneurs. Since the signing of the 1+8 cooperation agreement between the city of Chicago and eight Chinese cities including Shanghai in 2013, the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in investment, trade, culture, education and tourism have achieved remarkable results. In particular, in July 2018, the Chicago Mayor delegation visited China again and renewed the new five-year plan for the 1+8 cooperation mechanism, providing opportunities for further development of bilateral cooperation. Ms. Zoeup highlighted the achievements of Chicago and Shanghai under the 1+8 cooperation mechanism and looked forward to the prospects for cooperation between the two parties. In the subsequent roundtable forum, relevant representatives of Kaiteng Law Firm and Zhitong Accounting Firm introduced the specific laws, taxation, accounting and other related matters for investing in the United States.
