On May 21, 2019, the Fujian Provincial Medical Delegation led by the Deputy Director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, Zhong Muda, visited the U.S. and CGCC-Chicago. The delegation, the Director of CGCC-Chicago Wenyue Zhang, and the Associate Director of International Business Development of World Business Chicago Tanya Tan discussed the current economy and trade situation of Fujian and the Midwestern U.S. business investment environment and the possibilities of future cooperation.
Fujian Province and the U.S. have a long history of economic and trade cooperation, with a wide range of trade and business, including food, agricultural products, soybeans, sorghum, alcohol, crude oil, iron ore, and aviation services. In the first quarter of 2019, Fujian Province imported and exported 297.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%. One of the well-known Fujian enterprises in the U.S. Midwest is Fuyao Glass.
During the meeting, Wenyue introduced the status of investment in the Midwest, the membership, business scope and service of CGCC-Chicago, and highlighted the upcoming CGCC-Chicago 2019 Annual Gala in September. She also took the opportunity to make an invitation to Fujian Province. Subsequently, Tanya highlighted the investment environment and opportunities in Chicago. Mr. Muda Zhong said that Fujian, as a major province for trade with the U.S., hopes to continue to strengthen cooperation in the Midwest, especially in the fields of healthcare and agricultural. Muda also expressed their desire to establish friendly ties with the CGCC-Chicago and World Business Chicago. The delegation group also visited the American company Baxter.
