CGCC-Chicago participates in the discussion of the Chinese Student Career Development Competition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
On March 9, 2019, the Chicago Chamber of Commerce was invited to attend the professional development competition held by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Chinese Students and Scholars Association and served as the judgmental guest. After the meeting, the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and the career development instructors met to discuss the current situation of career development planning, school-enterprise cooperation projects and the development trend of work visas in 2019.
According to data from the International Education Association (IIE) in 2018, there are currently more than 360,000 Chinese students studying in the United States. The Midwest Kyushu attracts approximately 85,000 Chinese students, accounting for a quarter of the nation’s total, including Illinois (approximately 19,700), Michigan (approximately 14,000) and Indiana (approximately 13,500). The University of Illinois at the University of Illinois is also the largest university in the Midwest and even the United States. Other popular universities include Purdue University, Michigan State University and Indiana University.
Among the Chinese students studying in the United States, more than 40% are undergraduate students, 36% are master or doctoral students, with majority studying in business (20.7%), engineering (19.0%), mathematics and computers (17.2%) sectors.
