Wednesday, May 2nd, Grant Thornton and CGCC hosted a “Tax Reform Session”. At this seminar, both Pete Simpson and Stephen Bridges lead a captivating discussion about the changing business world between the U.S. and China through the new tax reform. Pete Simpson, Grant Thornton’s Midwest Region’s International Tax Service Leader, began the seminar introducing guests to the new international, federal and stateside tax rules that are now being implemented. Mr. Simpson mentioned how new tax rules are constructed with the hope of benefiting businesses within America. The seminar discussion transitioned into the global sense of change as Stephen Bridges, Managing Director of Business Development at Grant Thornton, closed the discussion with his personal perspective on the changing business environment of the United States and China after the 2016 election. “Beijing and Washington are going to be even more important cities” he suggested, “This is a period of China and the United States”.
This is the first session of many in an event series run by CGCC. This event series has been started with the goal of having an open conversation on the current events and issues that take place in the China and United States.
