Chicago, March 10, 2025 – A major Global Media Dialogue titled “Sharing Opportunities with the World” was successfully held at Polsky Exchange North in Chicago, bringing together government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and scholars to discuss the future of U.S.-China engagement.
The event, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the China General Chamber of Commerce U.S.A.-Chicago (CGCC Chicago), and the Future Wanxiang Foundation, focused on technological innovation, cross-border collaboration, and youth exchange as key areas for strengthening bilateral ties.
Senior Officials Highlight Importance of Cooperation
The event opened with video addresses from Shen Haixiong, Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group, and Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, who provided insights into the evolving U.S.-China relationship. Both speakers emphasized the need for open dialogue and cooperation, particularly in business and cultural exchanges, amid a rapidly changing global landscape.

In addition, several distinguished speakers took the stage, including former Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, former Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, and Wang Baodong, Chinese Consul General in Chicago. Their remarks underscored the mutual economic benefits of international collaboration and the role of diplomacy and business partnerships in fostering sustainable growth.

The first panel, “New Trends, New Opportunities – The Future of Chinese Technological Innovation and U.S.-China Cooperation,” explored the latest developments in AI, machine learning, and clean energy technologies. Samir Mayekar, former Deputy Mayor of Economic Development for Chicago and now Managing Director at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, spoke about the rapid evolution of AI-driven businesses and the potential for greater collaboration between the U.S. and Chinese tech sectors. Dr. Kara Rodby, Technical Principal at Volta Energy Technologies, discussed sustainable energy solutions as a key area for innovation. Tommy Ma, an investor at Eastlink Capital and MBA candidate at Chicago Booth, provided insights into venture capital investment trends in China, while Henry Yuan, Co-Founder of Evolves AI, highlighted the growing influence of young entrepreneurs in the AI and machine learning sectors.
