Auto Industry and Its Tax Impact Seminar and Governor Snyder Meeting CGCC Chicago Members

On September 25, 2017, CGCC Chicago and Grant Thornton jointly organized the seminar – “Auto Industry And Its Tax Impact” in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. James Tish, the Office Managing Partner of Grant Thornton hosted the event. Mr. Pin Ni, President of Wanxiang America Corporation and the Vice Chairman of CGCC Chicago delivered the opening remarks. Mr. Kevin Kerrigan, Senior VP of Automotive Office at Michigan Economic Development Corporation hosted the panel discussion – “Views of the U.S. Automotive Market from Different Perspectives, From Suppliers to OEMs”. Panelists Mr. Kevin Gillis, Global VP of Key Safety Systems, Inc., Mr. Richard A. Walawender, Principal and Corporate Group Co-Leader of Miller Canfield and Mr. Qiang Hong, Research Scientist of Center for Automotive Research (CAR) discussed the topics of insurance, tax and related policies and regulations, current automotive industry status in the US and worldwide and its future development opportunities and challenges. Ms. Kristen Malinconico, Director of Public Policy and Governmental Affairs of Grant Thornton addressed on how President Trump’s legislative and policy agenda could affect the auto industry and the implications of those policies for businesses. Simultaneously Governor Snyder of Michigan State held an exclusive meeting with CGCC Chicago Chinese members that have invested in Michigan. Governor Snyder introduced the investment environment in Michigan in recent years. Mr. Pin Ni, President of Wanxiang America Corporation, Ms. Shirley Lam, President of Zhongding USA Inc, Mr. Zhiqiang Hao, General Manager of JIER North America, Mr. Xianliang Zhou, President of C&U Bearings and Mr. Tao Liu, COO of Nexteer Automotive attended the meeting. Chinese companies Introduced their respective businesses, their investments in the US and their prospects for future development. Governor Snyder provided closing remarks at the seminar. CGCC Chicago successfully held its first event in Michigan!
