Summary

Develop and maintaining product quality standards. Defining requirements for new products, monitoring production quality performance to identify opportunities for improvement, and carrying out the maintenance of quality files, procedures, and work instructions for proper adherence to the quality system. Assist in quality system certification and be responsible for quality-related training.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and follow standardized Quality policies, work instructions, and test procedures
  • Assist with training, ensure documentation is completed and test data is analyzed
  • Prepare, perform and document supplier test procedures
  • Conduct testing and/or audits and take appropriate actions to ensure goals are achieved
  • Implement, follow and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System
  • Manage quality activity schedules, quality procedures, and safety processes
  • Consistently demonstrate an understanding of quality processes
  • Assist with quality system certification
  • Interface with production teams and share information, such as quality issues

 

 

 

 

  • Maintain and comply with all regulatory compliances such as FRA, OSHA, EPA, and ISO,
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Maintain, review and release quality-related documents
  • Tools calibration control
  • QMS maintenance
  • 50%-60% working in a manufacturing environment
  • 40%-50% office environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

Education and/or Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or High School Diploma with at least Six(6) years of quality engineering experience
  • Three(3) years’ testing/quality assurance experience in rolling stock, locomotive, aerospace or heavy-duty equipment or other related manufacturing industry
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical defects and the ability to inspect to given specification
  • Knowledge of metrology
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

 

 

 

 

  • Strong documentation, planning, and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering related major
  • Three(3)+ years of testing experience/quality assurance experience in rolling stock, locomotive, aerospace or heavy-duty equipment or other related manufacturing industry
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO9001 quality system certification
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Knowledge of Solid Works (CAD)
  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
